As Sheldon travels the ocean state, he’s been hearing from middle-class families, seniors, small business owners – taking that information back to Washington and standing up for Rhode Island.
We invite you to use the resources in this section to learn more about Sheldon’s latest efforts for the Ocean State. You’ll find video, press releases, speeches and more.
It's such an honor to represent Rhode Island in the Senate. We may be a small state, but we all know one another, we know where things are and where they used to be, and we're fiercely proud of our unique and lasting history.
Listening to constituents is one of the most important -- and meaningful -- things I get to do as your Senator. Please take a moment to share your thoughts, ideas, and questions with me here, and my office and I will get back to you.
Dear Senator Whitehouse,
I'm signing this petition to save Pell Grants because middle class families deserve a chance to send their kids to college.
This year, House Republicans attempted to slash funding for Pell Grants, passing a budget resolution that would have would have cut grant funding for over a million students by an average of $1,775.
Now as the Congressional "supercommittee" prepares to recommend significant budget cuts this fall we must make it clear that cuts to Pell Grants are unacceptable.
That's why I'm proud to support your resolution to keep Pell Grants out of the deficit reduction package.
