Providence, RI – U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo today issued the following joint statement following the ratification of a labor agreement struck between Butler Hospital and SEIU 1199NE, ending a months-long strike:
“We are very pleased to see SEIU 1199NE workers and Care New England reach an agreement for a new contract. The Congressional delegation was in touch with both labor and management through months of difficult, complex negotiations. The deal reached this week respects the heroic work that the nurses, mental health professionals, and staff at Butler Hospital do each day for Rhode Island patients in the dangerous environment of looming Republican Medicaid and Medicare cuts.”
