Senator Whitehouse is now accepting Community Directed Spending requests for Fiscal Year 2023. Requests must be submitted via electronic application by 6:00 p.m., Friday, April 8, 2022.
Any CDS request that Senator Whitehouse submits to the Appropriations Committee must comply with Senate Rule XLIV.
Only projects based in Rhode Island and submitted by Rhode Island applicants will be considered. Eligible applicants include units of local and state government, nonprofit organizations and institutions of higher education. For-profit entities are not eligible to receive Congressionally Directed Spending. Please send any inquiries about eligibility to CDS@whitehouse.senate.gov.
Eligible Accounts: A specific list of accounts under which CDS requests were supported in the Fiscal Year 2022 process is available here. This list of eligible accounts is subject to change pending instructions for the Fiscal Year 2023 appropriations process. This website will be updated when the Fiscal Year 2023 guidance is available. If you submit an application for a CDS project in an account that is no longer eligible once the FY23 guidance has been released, a member of Senator Whitehouse’s staff will reach out to you.
Transparency: Please note all CDS requests selected for submission will be made public to ensure transparency and accountability.
Application Process: Entities submitting an application will be required to provide a standard, detailed budget form for the project and a letter of certification as described in the electronic application. Submission of this application should not be construed as a guarantee that funding will be requested or awarded. Fiscal Year 2022 requests do not carry over to the new fiscal year.
