Statement of Senator Whitehouse on Senate’s Successful Vote to Move Health Care Reform Legislation Forward

Washington, D.C. – “During the course of our national debate on health care reform, I heard from thousands of Rhode Islanders online through my health care storyboard, at my community dinners, and at meetings and main street visits. I hear their urgent call for health care reform. The Senate’s move to a full debate of comprehensive health care reform is a major step toward the enactment of legislation that will dramatically increase health care coverage, improve health care quality, and reduce health care costs. I hope that Senators on both sides of the aisle will see the improvements in this strong reform package against the costs of inaction. I look forward to a robust debate, and Congress’s passage of groundbreaking health care reform legislation for the President’s signature.”
