Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), a senior member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, today commended Judge O. Rogeriee Thompson of the First Circuit Court of Appeals for her decades of service to Rhode Islanders. Judge Thompson has announced that she will take senior status at the end of this year.
“Judge Thompson is a trailblazer and a giant in Rhode Island’s legal community. She has served Rhode Islanders with distinction over decades on the bench,” said Whitehouse. “I have had the good fortune of knowing Judge Thompson for many years, and was proud to join Senator Reed in recommending her to President Obama to serve on the First Circuit. Throughout her tenure there, Judge Thompson has been an exemplary jurist and a voice for fairness and justice. Hers will be big shoes to fill.”
