Latest episode of Making the Case available now on SpotifyApple, and YouTube

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), Ranking Member of the Senate Judiciary Courts Subcommittee, released the seventh episode of season two of his podcast, Making the Case.  In the new episode, Whitehouse and Lisa Graves of True North Research discuss President Trump’s weaponization of the Department of Justice to prosecute his political enemies, and the setbacks in court the Department has faced because of Trump’s repeated appointment of unqualified loyalists as U.S. Attorneys.  Whitehouse and Graves also set the scene on the dark money corruption swirling around the Supreme Court in advance of a key campaign finance case that’s set for oral arguments this week.

“In this new episode of Making the Case, I was delighted to welcome back Lisa Graves, the most effective and determined researcher into the dark-money corruption of America’s democratic institutions.  Her heroic work has anchored so many of my efforts to shine the light of transparency on the right-wing billionaire scheme to capture and control the Supreme Court,”said Whitehouse.  “Tune in as we discuss the gangster gong show at the MAGA DOJ and the dark-money mischief around the Court.”

The seventh episode of season two of Making the Case is now available on SpotifyApple Podcasts,YouTube, and other podcast platforms.

In October, Senators Whitehouse, Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Adam Schiff (D-CA), Mazie Hirono (D-HI), and Cory Booker (D-NJ) filed an amicus curiae — or “friend of the court” — brief in National Republican Senatorial Committee v. Federal Election Commission, in which the National Republican Senatorial Committee is asking the Supreme Court to strike down federal limits on expenditures by political parties made in coordination with political candidates.  The senators’ brief urged the Supreme Court to reject this Republican effort to flood politics with corporate and mega-donor cash and instead use this case to reconsider Citizens United, which unleashed corrupting dark money into elections, based on a foundation of false fact-finding.
